
Burgas hosted the first "Buki Fest: On the Wave of Knowledge" - an event for technology, education and creativity
Burgas hosted the First Edition of "Buki Fest: On the Wave of Knowledge" – an event for technology, education and creativity, organized by "School Telerik Academy". The festival brought together students, teachers, inspiring speakers and leading technology companies at Burgas Free University for a day filled with technology, discoveries and shared inspiration. The event was officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Burgas for Education, Healthcare, Social Activities and Youth Policies Mihail Nenov and the Rector of BSU Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov. The festival brought together over 350 participants from all over the country, who presented nearly 90 projects - from computer games and websites to 3D models and sustainable technological solutions, inspired by the programs of Buki.bg and "School Telerik Academy". The dedicated expo area became a stage for sharing ideas and creating new friendships. Each visitor had the opportunity to vote for the projects that impressed them the most. At the end of the day, the awards ceremony took place, with 27 teams walking away with awards. The teams that received the most votes are: • Secondary School "Petko Rosen", Burgas (grades 3-4): "Health and a Sustainable World" • Primary School "St. Kliment Ohridski", Burgas (grades 5-7): "City of the Future" and "micro:bit" • Primary School "St. Kliment Ohridski", Burgas - grades 5-7, project "micro:bit" • Secondary School "Lyuben Karavelov", Dobrich (grades 8-12): "STC - Smart Traffic Control" • Primary School "Prof. Emanuil Ivanov", Kyustendil (grades 8-12): "Sustainable City" Inspiring speakers complemented the program with their personal examples and stories. Philip Shavov, founder of the Lionheart Triathlon, encouraged young participants to pursue their dreams with perseverance. Yoto Raichev from Space for Children spoke about the future of technology in space. The final meeting with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) and Petar Yankov introduced the children to the richness of migratory birds and the key role of Burgas as a stop on their way. The event partners Lidl Bulgaria took care of the delicious lunch for all participants and guests. The organizers extend special thanks to their partners and donors: Acronis, AMPECO, Bosch Engineering Center Sofia, HP Inc. Bulgaria, ICT Strypes, Lidl, LimeChain, Nemetschek Bulgaria, Postbank, SiteGround, and StorPool Storage – thanks to whom every visitor left with a gift or prize. About "School Telerik Academy" and the Buki platform: "School Telerik Academy" is a leader in digital technology and programming education for students from grades 1 to 12, having so far trained over 23,000 children from 47 settlements for free. In early 2024, the organization joined forces with "Technocrats" to develop the educational platform Buki. Buki provides schools with ready-made educational programs in digital and financial literacy, green technologies, programming and key skills. They can be implemented as part of the curriculum or extracurricular activities. During the 2024/2025 school year, over 170 schools from 90 settlements are using the platform's programs.
